The Advanced Supplier Quality Engineer will play a key role in ensuring a flawless start from the Zoox production supply base, and drive continuous improvement. The initial focus will be to provide support to procurement regarding selection of the most appropriate suppliers. In time, the focus will shift to managing key suppliers to ensure adherence to schedule, quality, and volume requirements. After production starts, the focus will shift to driving continuous improvement in the supply base.


    • Provide DFM/DFA/GD&T support to product engineering regarding design of parts and systems
    • Conduct and perform assessments of potential suppliers and systems
    • Determine quality documentation requirements for parts and systems
    • Manage product and process development with suppliers and communicate major launch issues to leadership
    • Assist suppliers with the development of manufacturing processes
    • Review Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) packages, provide feedback to suppliers, and evaluate production capacity at key suppliers
    • Issue corrective action requests to suppliers and provide support with resolving them
    • Develop and implement supplier improvement plans for under-performing suppliers
    • Drive continuous improvement (quality /delivery / cost) throughout the supply base using lean manufacturing and six-sigma tools
    • Conduct critical supplier quality audits
    • Develop, maintain, and improve advanced supplier quality processes such as assessments, program reviews, production part approval, run at rate, corrective actions, scoring, supplier development, and audits
    • Provide support to Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Product Engineering regarding analysis and disposition of suspect supplier material
    • Provide support to Quality Engineering regarding development and use of lean manufacturing and six-sigma tools throughout the organization
    • Promote compliance to TS16949 standards and procedures


    • The ideal candidate will be entrepreneurial, driven, energetic, detailed and team oriented
    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field; MS Preferred
    • Minimum of 6 years of experience in Quality, Supplier Quality, or Manufacturing, in the automotive, aviation, computer, or medical device industries
    • Experience in New Product Introduction
    • Experience creating and improving quality systems
    • Experience using problem solving techniques such as Six-Sigma, 8-Discipline, Pareto Charts, Regression Analysis, ANOVA, DOE, Fish Bone Analysis, Red-X, Is / Is Not
    • Experience using quality analysis and control tools such as Process Flow Diagrams, Process FMEAs, Process Control Plans, SPC, MSA, Process Capability
    • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes such as die casting, machining, stamping, injection molding, composites, wire harness assembly, printed circuit board fabrication and assembly, high voltage battery assembly, high voltage motor assembly, soft trim fabrication and assembly, and mechanical assembly
    • Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
    • Working knowledge of Quality Systems such as ISO9000 and TS16949
    • Certifications such as ASQ, Six Sigma Green Belt, or Six Sigma Black Belt desired
    • Fully literate in Microsoft computer applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
